It would be great both to 1) hear about the work people are doing around the nation to help adult learners in terms of building their literacies, including literacy (traditionally defined) as well as digital, financial and other literacies and 2) share ideas about how best to move forward as a community to address low literacy levels among adults in the U.S.
As community anchors, libraries can engage underserved adult populations in adult basic education, ESOL, workforce, and digital literacy services. How can libraries expand their capacity to meet these needs? Does the library service model need to change? What is the role of technology? How can libraries access federal and state workforce and adult ed funding streams to build sustainable programs?
